Puma, officially known as Puma SE, is a German multinational corporation specialising in athletic and casual footwear, apparel, and accessories. The company was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler, the brother of adidas founder Adolf Dassler. The two brothers had a falling out, leading to the creation of their respective companies. Puma's early focus was on producing soccer shoes and other athletic footwear. Its logo features a leaping Puma, often referred to as the "Puma Cat" or "Puma Jumping," symbolising agility, speed, and athleticism. The Puma logo is distinct and recognizable, representing the brand's commitment to performance and style and it is displayed on everything from Puma sneakers, through clothing, up to accessories or footballs. The brand is closely associated with various sports, including soccer, athletics, basketball, and motorsports. Moreover it sponsors numerous professional athletes and sports teams, including soccer clubs like AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, as well as individual athletes like sprinter Usain Bolt and soccer player Neymar Jr. In addition, Puma collaborated on special footwear and clothing capsules with Rhuigi, Rick and Morty or RIPNDIP.

Puma has established itself as a prominent player in the athletic and lifestyle footwear industry. The brand associates with a singer Rihanna with whom they've designed one of the most notable collaborations in recent years. Their Fenty line included the highly wanted Fenty Creepers and in 2023 they launched the Avanti silhouette which carries the aesthetic of football cleats. Next in line is partnership with Selena Gomez who delivered not only clothing, but also footwear designs. Her collection included for example the Puma Cali silhouette which is a modern take on the classic California sneaker. It features a chunky sole and a clean, retro-inspired design that's popular among fashion-forward consumers. Even though there were multiple collaborations with famous celebrities, artists and brands, Puma is still primarily a sportswear brand with an expanded portfolio. It is favourite among football players who simply need football cleats and Puma delivers what's wanted. The Puma Ultra model is a shoe with a lightweight design which allows players to move quickly on the field. It's amazing how originally sports brands entered the world of streetwear and fashion. Puma sneaker's collection stretches from made-for-leisure pieces, through Hollywood collaborations, up to high-performance sport gear, all perfectly made.

Just as Puma influences the development of sports sneakers and other equipment, it has contributed to the evolution of streetwear shoes. Their  Suede models are a great retro choice.
