Y-3

When adidas decided to join forces with the designer Yohji Yamamoto, the first luxury sports shoe was created. Such a common and sought-after combination today. Yamamoto is a very successful designer, from whose talent many other brands and artists such as Hermés or Elton John draw inspiration. The progressive approach to creating the look of entire collections, together with the know-how of adidas, creates a unique style full of surprising elegance. The collaboration began in October 2002. The name combines Y as Yamamoto and number 3 for "three stripes" - an adidas trademark.

The blend of Japan and adidas

Y-3 is a collaborative venture between Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and the iconic sportswear brand adidas. During the many years since its foundation the two have been producing sneaker silhouettes which stand out. The Y-3 Qasa is perhaps the most iconic silhouette to emerge from the Y-3 collaboration. Introduced in 2013, this sneaker was an instant hit, blending innovative design with athletic functionality. The Qasa takes inspiration from traditional Japanese footwear, particularly the "Tabi" shoes, which feature a split-toe design. This influence is evident in the sneaker's segmented sole unit, which provides exceptional flexibility and support. Additionally, the Qasa's sock-like upper and signature elastic straps create a snug and comfortable fit. Y-3 also produces sneakers suitable for activities which include moving around, like running for example. That's exactly the purpose of the Y-3 Runner model. The Runner is a fusion of retro running aesthetics and modern design elements. It showcases Y-3's ability to blend classic sportswear with contemporary fashion. In the adidas collection with Japanese touch can be found a piece for everyone. From runners seeking performance to fashion enthusiasts looking for a stylish, everyday sneaker.
