The NB 1500 is the flagship of New Balance and was designed by the third inhouse designer Steven Smith in 1989. It completed other sports full lines from NB such as tennis, basketball and training line - which were also released. These sneakers are inspired by running, a boom in the '70s and '80s in America. And it's designed for people looking for a lifestyle sneakers more than a piece of super technical equipment for running. The upper is made of elastic suede and the midsole, of course, has ENCAP technology. And apparently, the fine lines sketched by S. Smith have made this simple model the centre of many collaborations over the years. E.g. Encyclopedia design in collab with Footpatrol, Toothpaste pack with Solebox or Danish weather with Norse Project.
