Air Max 1

The shoe, which was presented to the public as a running shoe until 2018, also determines a specific lifestyle. Two men (apart from Nike) stay behind the creation of this icon. Frank Rudy is responsible for an incredible technological revolution. Compressing gas into urethane capsules and using it to give the shoe a better cushioning without increasing its weight is a technology he brought from NASA, where he worked as an engineer.
The other man can be non-other than Tinker Hatfield. An innovative designer working for Nike, with practice from architecture. It could be the reason why the design of the first Air Max was inspired by the architecture of the Center Georges Pompidou building in Paris, which looks kind of inside out. It reveals the internal construction, which also applies to the Air Max 1, which were the first shoes with air capsule technology. It was the year 1987, even though the system has been used since 1978 (Air Tailwind model).

Nike

Nike, a global athletic footwear and apparel company, has a rich and fascinating history that dates back to 1964. The company was founded by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight under the name "Blue Ribbon Sports". Later on in 1972 it was officially named Nike, as we know it today. The iconic Nike Swoosh logo, designed by Carolyn Davidson, was introduced in 1971 and quickly became one of the most recognizable and enduring symbols in the world. Nowadays Nike is a global leader in athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories. The brand has also collaborated with numerous athletes, celebrities, and fashion designers, further cementing its influence in popular culture. Collaborations with athletes like Serena Williams, LeBron James, and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as fashion designers like Virgil Abloh and Sacai, have resulted in iconic and sought-after collections. Through its continuous commitment to pushing boundaries, embracing creativity, and promoting inclusivity, Nike remains a dominant and influential force in the sports and fashion industries, inspiring athletes and individuals around the globe to "Just Do It."
