Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars sneakers have basically not changed since 1917. Marquis Mills Converse opened a shoe factory in 1908. Chuck Taylor was a semi-professional basketball player and a coach who joined Marquis in 1921 as a salesman and promoter. During the 1940s, most professional and hobby basketball players wore Converse sneakers.
