Nike engineers conducted a study with Stanford students who ran barefoot on local golf courses. With the help of sensors and cameras, which they placed on the students' feet, they were able to isolate the natural movement of the stride to the smallest detail. The original (first) model had imprinted a foot skeleton on its insoles, a breathable upper and a Phylon flexible outsole.
