The ZX series started in 1984 as a pure running shoe. Jacques Chassaing and Markus Thaler further divided the ZX series into training and competition models. The initial idea behind this model was to create shoes suitable for long distance running. It has been tested by professional runners and gained recognition for their performance capabilities making them suitable for training and marathons. These were further specified depending on whether you were looking for pronation or supination support while running. Finally, they could be distinguished by name and colour - Cushion (blue), Support (yellow), Guidance (green), and Racing (red). They used the Torsion system to give the runner the support they needed and Soft Cell technology for cushioning, ushering in a new era of running shoes. The Torsion System is a plastic arch support located in the midsole, designed to allow the forefoot and the heel to move independently while maintaining stability.
