Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens - a symbol of quality, durability, safety and comfort.

Dr. Martens - It's 1901 and the Grigg family is known for making shoes in the small town of Wollaston, Northamptonshire, England. The story of the iconic shoe's production moved to Munich in 1945, where Dr. Klaus Maertens, a 25 year old soldier, while recovering from a broken foot, created a unique air sole made of hard leather to help him recover. He then showed the prototype shoe to an old friend from university, Dr. Helbert Funk. And so a partnership was formed, with the Grigg family starting to make unique boots from unused military supplies.

In 1960, they acquired the license and modified a few key elements - altering the heel, highlighting the yellow stitching and modifying the unique sole pattern. The shoes were branded as the "Airwair". They were named after the date of their creation, April 1, 1960, and subsequently arrived the eight-hole 1460 Dr. Martens boot.

Made like no other boot on earth.
