Dunk Low

A bittersweet story of defeat and victory. After failed attempts in the '90s, when Nike was trying to infiltrate the new market, Reese Forbes, Gino Iannucci, Richard Mulder and Danny Supa, a professional skate team, came to the rescue of Nike's name around the beginning of the new millennium. They put together sneakers that will win over both the skate community and the general public of sneakerheads. The model is based on the classic b-ball Dunks by designer Peter Moore. The new technology used here is Zoom Air on the heel of the shoe along with a large padded tongue for greater comfort. Finally, Nike offers wearable and comfortable sneakers for the skate. The decision of the millennium was to launch the model in limited numbers only in exclusive shops. This strategic move unleashed an incredible hype resulting in endless queues that exceptionally degenerated into a riot.

Nike SB

The idea for Nike SB was inspired by two key events in the late 1990s – the resurgence of skateboarding's popularity and the release of the Nike Dunk, a basketball shoe that skateboarders began to adopt for its design and durability. Nike SB officially launched in March 2002 with four initial Dunk Low Pro colorways. This marked Nike's dedicated entry into the skateboarding market. Nike SB has collaborated with numerous professional skateboarders, such as Paul Rodriguez, Stefan Janoski, and Eric Koston, to create signature shoe models tailored to their individual skateboarding styles. In 2023, the brand launched another collaborative Dunk silhouette with Yuto Horigome - the winner of the first Olympics in skateboarding. Its devotion to skateboarding got Nike SB to launch a dedicated app called "Nike SB" to cater to the skateboarding community. The app provides skate-related content, news, and product releases. The brand is known for its creative and unique themes for sneaker releases. Some themes have included fast food chains like McDonald's and Starbucks, as well as collaborations with skate shops and artists.

A New York-based streetwear brand HUF has teamed up with Nike to create a reimagined version of the Nike Dunk SB Low. The shoe is released in three different colourways. Nike Dunk SB Low x HUF “NYC” is featuring classic Yankee colours. The dark blue base, white overlays and contrasting light grey swoosh are finished with yellow edges around the upper. The whole look is underlined with a cream midsole and high-quality leather with multiple details. This includes the HUF branding on the toe box with small metallic Swoosh, “KEITH FOREVER” lettering on the heel, collaborative Nike SB tongue tag and an NYC city skyline with the Statue of Liberty and Twin Towers on the back. If that’s not enough, this pair also has a hidden tie-dye pattern in blue and white colour, which can be found under the side panel of each shoe.
